Nurse Uniforms in the UAE: What to Look For

Nurses in the UAE spend ten- and twelve-hour shifts on their feet, moving between wards, storerooms and patient bays — often several times an hour. A uniform that looks sharp in a photo but binds at the shoulder or has nowhere to clip a badge reel does not survive that kind of day. This guide covers what actually matters when choosing nurse uniforms here, and where each of it shows up in the Corus range.

What a working nurse uniform needs to do

  • Move with you. Four-way stretch fabric matters more for nurses than almost any other clinical role, because the job is rarely still — reaching, bending, lifting, turning patients.
  • Hold what you carry. Pen, phone, shears, alcohol wipes, a badge — a scrub top or pant with too few pockets, or pockets in the wrong place, means constantly patting yourself down mid-shift.
  • Survive daily washing. UAE hospital laundering is frequent and hot. Fabric that pills, fades or loses shape after a few weeks of industrial washing is a false economy.
  • Fit the whole shift, not just the fitting room. A top that looks fitted standing still can ride up when you bend over a bed. Curved hems and side vents (see below) exist for exactly this reason.

What's in the range

Corus carries nurse-appropriate scrubs from three brands — Healing Hands, Cherokee and Coolmedz — covering both men's and women's fits.

For women: the Billie V-Neck Scrub Top is an ultra-stretch, tuckable top with a curved hemline and side vents — built for the reach-and-bend movement nursing involves all day. Paired with the Brandy Cargo Scrub Pant, it gives a full Healing Hands set with genuine utility pockets rather than decorative ones. Cherokee's WW Ultra V-Neck Top and Ultra Slim Cargo Pant are the sharper, slimmer-cut alternative for nurses who prefer a more tailored line without giving up stretch. The Coolmedz Scrub Top and matching Scrub Bottom are the value entry point at AED 120 each — a sensible choice for a second or third set.

For men: the Ari V-Neck Scrub Top and Drawstring Scrub Pant give the same Healing Hands stretch-and-pocket combination in a men's cut, and the Coolmedz men's top and bottom cover the budget-conscious end. For colder wards or the walk between the car park and the building, the Austin Utility Jacket (men's) and Brook Zip Jacket (women's) layer over any of the above without restricting movement.

Sizing and fit

Sizes run XS–XXL depending on the style, with numeric waist sizing (26–34) on the Coolmedz bottoms. Because cut varies noticeably between brands — Cherokee's Ultra line runs slimmer than Healing Hands' Classic fits — nurses ordering for the first time, or ordering a second brand, are better off checking the size chart on each product page rather than assuming their usual size carries across.

Branding for a department or ward

Many UAE clinics and hospitals ask nursing staff to carry a department name, unit initials or a small logo on the uniform. Corus offers custom embroidery as an add-on on eligible garments, so a set can be personalised without needing a separate supplier. This is the same option covered in more detail in our guide to ordering scrubs in bulk for clinics and hospitals, for anyone ordering for a whole team rather than a single set.

Buying for the UAE, not just for the ward

Fabric choice also has to account for the climate here — air-conditioned wards indoors, heat and humidity the moment you step outside for a break. The stretch-woven and performance-knit fabrics used across the Healing Hands and Cherokee ranges are the more breathable choice for that transition; heavier cotton-blend scrubs, more common in cooler climates, tend to feel warm indoors and damp outdoors in the UAE.

All of the products above ship across the UAE from stock held locally, in the sizes shown on each product page.
