In the UAE, "scrub suit" is the everyday name for a matching scrub top and pant worn as one uniform. Most brands — including the three Corus stocks — actually sell the two pieces separately. That is good news for fit, because few people are the same size top and bottom, but it means putting a suit together is a small decision rather than a single click. This guide covers how to do it well.
Why scrub suits are sold as separates
Buying the top and pant individually lets you choose a different size for each, and a different cut for each if you want one. A nurse who is a small on top and a medium at the waist, or a doctor who wants a slim pant under a relaxed top, gets a suit that fits instead of a compromise. It also means a worn-out pant can be replaced without buying a whole new set.
The catch is colour. A suit only reads as a suit if the two pieces match, and colour names are not shared between brands. The simplest rule: build each suit within one brand, where the top and pant are made in the same named colours.
Matching sets in the Corus range
Healing Hands — women. The Billie V-Neck Scrub Top (AED 145) pairs with the Brandy Cargo Scrub Pant (AED 195) for a full suit at AED 340. Both come in Black, Navy, Twilight Blue and Pink Pearl. The Billie is an ultra-stretch, tuckable top with a curved hem and side vents; the Brandy is a straight-leg pant with four pockets including a cargo pocket.
Healing Hands — men. The Ari V-Neck Scrub Top (AED 150) and Drawstring Scrub Pant (AED 195) make a AED 345 suit, matching in Black, Navy, Caribbean Blue and Pewter. The pant has an elastic drawstring waist with a zip fly and a side cargo pocket.
Cherokee — women. The WW Ultra V-Neck Scrub Top (AED 125) and Ultra Slim Cargo Scrub Pant (AED 135) come to AED 260 and share four colours: Navy, Galaxy Blue, Wine and Black. This is the slimmer, more tailored line — the pant has an updated slim straight leg with 4-way stretch.
Coolmedz — women and men. The women's top and bottom, and the men's top and bottom, are AED 120 each, so a full suit is AED 240 — the lowest-cost set in the range. Tops and bottoms share five colours: Black, Navy, Ocean Blue, Charcoal and Caribbean Blue. Getting the size right on each half
Size the top by chest and the pant by waist and hip, separately. Two things catch people out:
- Sizing systems differ. Most tops and pants run XS to XL or XXL, but the Coolmedz bottoms use numeric waist sizes — 26 to 34 for women and 30 to 38 for men.
- Cuts differ between brands. Cherokee's Ultra line is slimmer than Healing Hands, so your usual size may not carry across. Each brand has its own chart: Healing Hands women, Healing Hands men, Cherokee and Coolmedz.
If you are between sizes on the pant, think about how you work: a cargo pocket that is loaded through a shift pulls the waistband down, which is an argument for the drawstring or elastic-waist styles over going up a size.
Choosing a colour
Many UAE hospitals and clinics assign colours by role or department, so check your workplace's policy before you buy — it is the most common reason a new suit goes unworn. Where you have a free choice, Navy and Black are offered in every set above and are the safest for a mixed wardrobe, because a spare top or pant in either will pair with the other half of an older set.
How many suits do you need?
For a five-day week with daily washing, most staff find three suits is the practical minimum: one being worn, one in the wash, one clean and ready. A common approach is one higher-spec set for long shifts and two Coolmedz sets as the everyday rotation.
